Individuals & Small Group Activities Activities

Individuals and Small Group Activities

  • Is there an age limit?
We have had people aged 7-74 complete our adventure activities. If you are concerned that some members of your group may struggle with the physical aspect of some of our events, please call us so we can suggest an appropriate option. Our Romp programs are for people aged 18 and over.
  • Is there a minimum or maximum number of people that can participate in an activity?
If you wish to take part in an open race then there is no minimum number when booking, you will be competing against other individuals or small groups. Unlike the television Amazing Race you will very rarely run in teams of two because this is meant to be a social event. If you are by yourself or in a group of 2 please expect to be race with others. For private races, that is, where the event is solely for your group, you will need to meet our minimum fee for your chosen activity; this is based on 18 participants. If you have less than 18 people participating you will still need to meet the minimum fee. We have done races for over 200 people so no private race is too big.
  • What happens if it rains?
The sun has an uncanny knack of shining on us most days, however when it has rained a bit it definitely added to the experience, so we operate rain or shine. In the unlikely event of a washout, you will have the opportunity to postpone your activity to another day. A 25% fee will be charged but will also work as a credit for future races.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
More than 30 days before your race you can cancel your booking without cost. If you cancel inside the month to two weeks before race day we take 25% of the minimum fee. Cancel within one to weeks we take 50% of the minimum booking and within 7 days we will take the full minimum fee.
  • Can I race if I’m pregnant?
We have had many pregnant ladies participate. It seems for every Hen there is a friend who’s expecting. All our challenges are low impact, low risk. The Rocks Romp is not a big race, and as long as you feel you can refrain from drinking at a pub or two, you’ll still have a ball.
  • How do I secure a booking?
Simply call 1300 504 152 and we will be happy to take your booking. All we need is a valid credit card to secure the booking.
  • Do you need to know the city?
Knowing the city, although it will give you a slight advantage, does not mean that you would be sure to beat an interstate or international visitor. We have designed our races so that skill, creativity, luck and perseverance levels out the playing field so that it’s anyone’s race.
  • What if I miss an activities start time?
We have a strict no money back policy if you miss the start time. On race day we recommend you aim to be at the start location to register 15-30 mins prior to start time.
  • What should I wear?
It is recommended that you check the weather for the day and dress accordingly. Loose clothing is recommended for our longer races. Wear a hat for day races and be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes for all our programs. Some private groups and small teams like to identify themselves by dressing things up a bit and coming in theme. It’s a lot of fun and we encourage it.
  • What should I bring?
All race kits are provided by Great Race. Bring some loose change for small purchases along the way, sunscreen, water, a mobile phone (one per team), camera or camera phone (one per team) and proof of age/ID.
  • Can I drink alcohol before an activity?
It is NOT recommended to drink alcohol before any of our activities. Our facilitators can deem you too intoxicated to race. In the event of intoxication you will, without refund, not participate.
  • Can you help us organise post race food and venue options?
We have contacts with many of the pubs and restaurants in the rocks, we’d be happy to suggest something to suit your requirements.
  • Can I add my own ideas and challenges?
We are happy to discuss ideas you may have for private races, we can flexible with most ideas however these can incur extra costs depending on the challenge. Open races are set programs.
  • Can I bring my car in and park?
Parking in the city is never easy and we advise everyone to catch public transport. If you are doing the Rocks Romp we strongly recommend you make other arrangements for travel.
  • What prizes do we win?
We provide token prizes to the winning team but if you would like to incorporate any extra prizes on the day please feel free.
  • How far in advance do I need to book?
If we have availability we can take bookings up to 24hrs before a race. We do however recommend booking well in advance, particularly for private bookings, to ensure we have availability in on the day you want.
  • How long do the races go for?
Our Activities range from two to four hours, depending on the activity itself. Refer to the info pages for the duration of each particular activity.
